My Style Thursday | Spring 2015 Wishlist

Spring 2015 Wishlist

I have not posted a My Style Thursday in foreverrrr! I'm itching to go spring shopping and these are some of the items I will be on the lookout for sure. As many of you probably already know my style is super simple and usually very casual. Since I will be rocking an ever growing baby bump this spring, I think it will be nice to have a couple of nice button downs I can wear open with a nice comfy tee under. As you notice, I don't have any specific plans for bottoms. Do I have to wear pants? LoL. I have not been a fan any pants. I can actually still fit into all my regular jeans for now, but I'm most comfortable with no pants, or if I have to wear pants I'm grabbing for pants with a stretchy waist. For those lingering cool days and nights, I'm on the hunt for a light weight, olive green parka. Lastly, I NEED a pair of white Converse in my life, and a girl can never have too many statement necklaces. Right? Tell me what you have on your spring wish list! I want to know!

Until Next Time,

My Style Thursday| Work From Home Uniform

Work From Home Uniform

Work From Home Uniform by Keia

I absolutely love working from home! Having the ability to dress extremely comfortable every day is just an added bonus. Now that I have worked from home for several weeks now, I think I have come up with the most suitable work from home "uniform" that works best for me.

When you work from home, only the top part of your body will be seen by anyone at any given time so it's important to look as presentable as possible from the waist up. For me, I like to wear a nice, basic tank top, a cardigan to pull the look together (and for warmth), and a simple necklace and stud earrings to accessorize.

The bottoms, I'm just about always wearing shorts or sweat pants of some sort. I really need to get the pair of sweats feature in my look to add to my collection!!

You will also always catch me with a cup of coffee, my planner, some cozy socks, and of course my laptop. For those of us who aren't fortunate enough to have 20/20 vision, I think a cute pair of eye glasses is only right too! I'm currently in need of a new pair of specs, and I would certainly love to have a pair of Ray Bans whenever I get around to ordering a pair!

Do any of you work from home? Do you love it as much as I do? Tell me what you think about my work from home "uniform."

Until Next Time,
<3 Keia

My Style Thursday| Fiance's Picks

Hey friends!!! Welcome back to another week of My Style Thursday! This week I bribed my lovely fiance' to assist me! It was actually easier to bribe him than I thought it would be...he just asked me to my him a parfait in exchange! Done and done! LoL. Anyway, Big R, my fiance', is from the city of Detroit, Michigan. People from Detroit, men especially, take serious pride in their style! As a result, Big R is very stylish. He is very confident in his sense of style too. Unlike me, he has very well-established wardrobe, and he has a zone that he sticks to, which I think is super important when it comes to creating your own style. Over the years we've been together he has encouraged me to find my zone and to stick with it! Now, don't get it twisted...this is no Kimye' situation over here...I wear what I want! LoL. He just encourages me to build a wardrobe that I'm comfortable with...a wardrobe that's versatile! I'm still working at that...but I've come a long way! Ok, I'm rambling again! Here are a few pics of my handsome husband-to-be: (just so you can get a sense of HIS style!)
Ok, so it's important that you note: his French cuffed shirt, ring, watch, AND cuff links! You didn't think it was a game when I told you he was from Detroit, did you?! LoL.
We took this picture a couple of years ago. We were out for the night on a cruise along the Detroit River. (Lawd, what I would do to have those arms today!)
And this would be his version of casual wear. If you hadn't noticed already, he also dresses his little mini-me very well too!
So now that you know a little more about my man and his fashion sense...for this week's post, I asked him to pick out two outfits he would choose for me.

This is what he chose for an EVERYDAY look:

And this is what he chose for a NIGHT OUT look:

I am personally a fan of both looks! What do you think? I had a lot of fun with this post. It was really interesting to see what Big R would chose for me! I like that his picks were both rather simple, and I'm sure y'all know by now I'm a simple girl! Let me know if y'all like these kinds of posts. I am going to try remember to ask him to chose some fall/winter looks for me a few months!

Until next time,

My Style Thursday| My Wardrobe Challenges

Source
Wardrobe Challenges. We all have them, right? You know when you go into the dressing room with a super cute dress, one with cut-outs, or a nice fitted dress. You put the dress on, have a glance in the mirror, and NO ma'am! It hugs in all the wrong places, it's cut too short, the material accentuates that slight bulge you have in the bra strap area? Just an overall hot mess? Don't worry...it happens to the best of us! This My Style Thursday, I thought I would share some of my wardrobe challenges with you. These are the few of the things I have to consider, more like work around, when it comes to my wardrobe.

Height| I am 5'7, which isn't extremely tall, but I feel like I am freaking giant when I wear heels.            #iaintgottimeforthat
Upper arms| Plan and simple. They are fat! To me at least. I am trying to work on that issue.
Mid-section| Some days are better than others with this area of my body. As of late, it hasn't been looking all that cute. I'm trying to work this situation out too.
Love handles| Why? Why do I have back fat? Damn this slowing metabolism mess.

Ladies, we all have areas of our body that could use some improvement, BUT that doesn't mean we can't find our groove when it comes to our style. We just have to find the right pieces for our body types. Again, I'm no expert, but I hope to share some of my tips with you in future My Style Thursday posts!!

What are some of your wardrobe challenges?

Until next time,
<3 Keia

My Style Thursdays

Hey friends! I'm hoping to add a new series to the blog, called My Style Thursday. My goal is to share with you what I consider to be "my style." I say that very loosely, because Lord knows I am NO fashionista or anything even close. I have mentioned before that I am currently trying to build my wardrobe with simple, classic pieces that I can wear for a good while. Yesterday, I wore a navy blue and cream striped, cap-sleeved maxi dress.
Dress-Ross; Necklace-GroopDealz: Flats-Target by way of Goodwill
I'm sure y'all have figured out that I don't buy anything unless it's a good deal. Well this here dress was $24.99. Yes m'aam!
This is the brand information if you're interested:
Beige by eci
From my quick research it looks like the brand is sold at Belk if you have one nearby. Overall, the dress totally suits my style, it is super comfortable, and the fit is perfect for me! And guess what, it's maxi dress season. Duh!
Sorry this picture is slightly blurry. 1) I need a better camera. 2) Big R was my photographer, and he was too busy trying to understand WHY I need to take pictures for my blog instead of focusing the camera. SMH. He's a work in progress when it comes to my blogging hobby. LoL.
Oh! To make the dress a little more work appropriate, I wore one of my favorite cardigans over it. The cardigan is by Nautica, and I got it at Burlington Coat Factory a couple of years ago.

Y'all let me know your thoughts on this new series? What kind of outfits/looks would you like to see?

Until next time,
<3 Keia

Week in Review {Monday, March 31st - Saturday, April 5th}

So as you may know, especially if you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, I spent this past week on a little staycation. I was lucky enough to have some annual leave time saved up from my old job that allowed me to take a week off of work prior to starting my new job TOMORROW! When I say I've enjoyed this week! Child! I was really able to just relax and recharge my batteries. I will be able to transition into this new opportunity fully energized, both mentally and physically. I snapped a few pictures over the past few days, and I thought I would share them with you guys!
Breakfast in bed.
I spent some time working on some projects that I plan on sharing on the blog. Here's a sneaky peek of one of them! ; )
Wednesday was super relaxing. I had a nice breakfast of oatmeal, boiled eggs, and coffee, I worked on the blog, relaxed on the deck, and gave myself a mani.
I'm just saying...can I wear these flats everyday? I love all things leopard print, and these flats in particular are super comfy.
Loving this scarf I picked up from Goodwill. I took a quick shot of the scarf while I waited in the line to get my car detailed. #dontjudgeme LoL.
After I got the car detailed, I had an appointment to get it serviced at the Toyota dealership. I came across Shavonda from A Home Full of Color's lovely home as a glanced through the February issue of Better Homes and Gardens. 1) Her home is beautiful, and I love her blog just as much, 2) I need to get a subscription to Better Homes and Gardens. {Quick Side Note: I got a  full year subscription for ONLY $5.99!!! Go get yours NOW!!!}
Up until this past Friday, I had not been active on Twitter for a little over two years! I decided since I will no longer share my posts on Facebook, I would give Twitter another try! So come follow me on Twitter @_justkeia, friends!!!
Yesterday I made the drive to Virginia to visit my family. I was feeling myself at a stoplight so I took this quick pic! LoL. I just love my aviators.
Whenever I get with my mom and my cousin (who's really more like my aunt) it's a guarantee that we will make a stop by a Goodwill or two. I really liked my outfit yesterday so I sneakily took this pic of myself while shopping. My shirt is from WALMART. I actually bought a few pieces from Walmart last weekend. Would y'all be interested to see what I picked up? What about another Goodwill haul? Let me know!!!
I stopped by to see my aunt that I haven't seen in a good while. She's actually my dad's sister. She had a beautiful mural  painted going up her stairway featuring her kids and grand kids. At the bottom landing of her stairway she has this beautiful tribute to my late grandparents, aunt, uncles and my dad (Pete). It was so good to see her and some of my other family members that I rarely get a chance to see.

My plan is to spend the rest of today getting ready for my big day tomorrow, and I'm going to kick it on the couch with Big R and watch a movie or two!

Fall 2013 Wish List| Casual Fashion

Fall 2013 WIsh List

{1) Studded Military Jacket {2} Nine West Leopard Print Smoking Flats
{3} Striped 'Tee' Sweatshirt {4} Navy Infinity Scarf {5) Cognac Cross Body Messenger Bag {6} Gold Charm Necklace
I wouldn't call myself a fashionista at all, but from what I've seen apparently these military styled jackets are pretty trendy. I think this one at Amazon for $40 seems like a good buy. I could see myself getting a lot of wear out of it on the weekends.
{2} Nine West Leopard Print Smoking Flats lordandtaylor.com
I currently own a pair of these. They are the Target brand, and honey...I've gotten my $19.99 wear out of them. I would love to get my hands on this pair from Nine West. I would think I could get a little more wear out of them for the price.
{3} Old Navy Striped 'Tee' Sweatshirt oldnavy.gap.com
This "sweatshirt" has my name written all over it. I am a sucker for stripes, and this is something I could easily wear on a Saturday morning errand run. I need this, possibly in multiple colors, in my life!
{4} Mossimo Navy Infinity Scarf target.com
I love me some scarves! I only own one actual infinity scarf though. The one I own is navy blue/cream striped, and it's made of a thicker, faux-wool material. I would love to have this lighter material, textured one from Target for the fall.
{5} Vintage Leather Crossbody Messenger Bag etsy.com
Again, when I am on the go over the weekends, cross body bags are so convenient. I have a pair of cognac brown boots I love wearing, and this cognac brown bag, that's easy to carry, would pair nicely with them. This bag in particular is a vintage, sold on Etsy. I don't have to have a vintage, but I'm not opposed to it either.
{6} 14 Karat Gold Charm etsy.com
Now this charm necklace I really, really want! If I don't get it for the fall season, it would make a great birthday gift. {Hint, hint.}  Honey, I hope you're reading this post ; ) This charm necklace would be perfect for everyday. I can see myself wearing it with a number of my work outfits. And of course I would want the initials L and R! <3

So there you have it. Some of the casual items I hope to purchase for this upcoming fall season. I didn't notice it when I created this board, but looking at the items I mentioned they could all be worn together, or each piece could be worn individually to create different looks. Let me know some of the things you plan to purchase for the fall. Maybe you can give me some more ideas! ; )

Until next time yall...
