September 2014 Photo Diary

So in an effort to get caught up on le blog, I decided to do monthly photo diaries for September through December! I don't have much to share for September. I guess I didn't whip out my camera much? Not sure what happened there. Anyway, here is what I have to share:

My mom and cousin/aunt/God Mother came to visit!
Quick side note: My family on my mom's side is a bit odd. My grandmother, my mom's mother, passed when my mom was just a teenager. My mom's older sister raised my mom and young sister through their teen years, so my aunt is really like a grandma to me, and her daughters are like my mom's sisters which means they are more like my aunts. I have also deemed my cousin/aunt Kena my God Mother. I've been her baby since the day I was born. Meet Kena!! You will likely see her on the blog again.
Mommy and me!
With Kena!
Whenever my mom and Kena visit it is almost a guarantee we are going to make a stop by the Goodwill. It is basically a tradition now! On this particular visit, I tried on my FIRST wedding dress! Yes, I tried on a wedding dress at the Goodwill. Judge me if you want! The dress was beautiful, brand new, and only $100.00. It just wasn't the one though so I left it in the store.

The beginning of a hair situation.

The first picture is my natural hair straightened, which I had straightened at a Dominican salon. Long story short here...if you have thin, fine natural hair do NOT go to a Dominican salon. Everything is not for everybody. The next picture is a snapshot of me with the sew in from hell! I will talk more about it in an upcoming post! Smh. Bad, bad hair decisions.

The Mr's new whip.

Big R got a new car!! So happy for him. Funny thing is I drive it more than he does, because "his music isn't right," i.e. he needs to get Bluetooth set up in his car so he can listen to Spotify. I'm not a music person like that, so I don't really get it but to each their own.

Until Next Time,

My Style Thursday| Goodwill Haul

from left to right:

Old Navy Royal Blue Blouse

The picture isn't really true to color...bummer! I really need a bloggy camera! Anyway, Little R is playing sandlot football for the first time this year! Yesterday, I went to Goodwill to find a couple of blue shirts to wear to his games. He plays for the Blue Devils...and I'm sure some folks will rock some Duke Blue Devil paraphernalia...umm...NOT this girl! University of Virginia grad over here!! Wahoowa!!! All day, err day!

Worthington Embellished Black Blouse

Seriously, this shirt is everything! It didn't have a tag on it, but I'm pretty sure it has never been worn before. I will definitely be rocking this baby this upcoming fall with a pair of black skinnies. All black errthang!

Splendid Teal Blouse

I'm not really sure if this blouse is my style or not?! It's a beautiful teal color, with flowy sleeves that have an eyelet detailed trim. I didn't try any of these items on...so we shall see!

Red Camel Blouse

Again, I was on the hunt for blue! I'll need to wear this before summer is over.  I think Red Camel is a Belk brand. Look at the cute detail:

Denim Shorts with White Polka Dots

Oh my goodness, these are so cute! I can't wait to see how they fit me after I get them washed! I may possibly wear these with a basic white tank to Little R's game this upcoming Saturday.

I am happy to report each of these pieces only cost $3.79 each! Score!!! Tell me what you think. Do you shop at the Goodwill? And if you don't, umm why not?! LoL.

Until Next Time,

My Style Thursday| Goodwill Work Wear

Happy Thursday, friends!!! I hope you all are doing well. Now if you have been around for a while, I KNOW you have taken my advice and stopped by your local Goodwill...multiple times?! I mean I know you are addicted by now, right? Well, if you still don't believe me, or if you're new to the blog...hey girl hey!...let me share with you an outfit I purchased from my Goodwill last week that I believe to be very appropriate for business casual work wear.
What we have here is a Merona {Target} black and white striped top and a pair of casual, khaki colored Faded Glory {Usually found at Walmart} chinos.

Seriously, this outfit can be dressed up...say a colorful statement necklace paired with a pair of leopard print flats OR you can dress it down with a chambray button down over the top and a pair of black and white Converses? No?! Holla at ya girl, now!

And yes, I paid $3.79 for the top and another $3.79 for the pants coming in just under 8 bucks. I threw these bad boys in the wash for a good cleansing, and I've already worn both pieces this week!

Lawd knows I love me some Goodwill. If I could go EVERYDAY, I would!

I also wanted to share some quick pics I snapped of the other items I picked up this last trip with you all too:

Old Navy Coral Shorts $3.79

Mossimo Teal and Navy Blue Striped Top $3.79
Francesca's Tan and Red Embroidered Skirt $3.79

Until next time lovelies,

Week in Review {Monday, March 31st - Saturday, April 5th}

So as you may know, especially if you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, I spent this past week on a little staycation. I was lucky enough to have some annual leave time saved up from my old job that allowed me to take a week off of work prior to starting my new job TOMORROW! When I say I've enjoyed this week! Child! I was really able to just relax and recharge my batteries. I will be able to transition into this new opportunity fully energized, both mentally and physically. I snapped a few pictures over the past few days, and I thought I would share them with you guys!
Breakfast in bed.
I spent some time working on some projects that I plan on sharing on the blog. Here's a sneaky peek of one of them! ; )
Wednesday was super relaxing. I had a nice breakfast of oatmeal, boiled eggs, and coffee, I worked on the blog, relaxed on the deck, and gave myself a mani.
I'm just saying...can I wear these flats everyday? I love all things leopard print, and these flats in particular are super comfy.
Loving this scarf I picked up from Goodwill. I took a quick shot of the scarf while I waited in the line to get my car detailed. #dontjudgeme LoL.
After I got the car detailed, I had an appointment to get it serviced at the Toyota dealership. I came across Shavonda from A Home Full of Color's lovely home as a glanced through the February issue of Better Homes and Gardens. 1) Her home is beautiful, and I love her blog just as much, 2) I need to get a subscription to Better Homes and Gardens. {Quick Side Note: I got a  full year subscription for ONLY $5.99!!! Go get yours NOW!!!}
Up until this past Friday, I had not been active on Twitter for a little over two years! I decided since I will no longer share my posts on Facebook, I would give Twitter another try! So come follow me on Twitter @_justkeia, friends!!!
Yesterday I made the drive to Virginia to visit my family. I was feeling myself at a stoplight so I took this quick pic! LoL. I just love my aviators.
Whenever I get with my mom and my cousin (who's really more like my aunt) it's a guarantee that we will make a stop by a Goodwill or two. I really liked my outfit yesterday so I sneakily took this pic of myself while shopping. My shirt is from WALMART. I actually bought a few pieces from Walmart last weekend. Would y'all be interested to see what I picked up? What about another Goodwill haul? Let me know!!!
I stopped by to see my aunt that I haven't seen in a good while. She's actually my dad's sister. She had a beautiful mural  painted going up her stairway featuring her kids and grand kids. At the bottom landing of her stairway she has this beautiful tribute to my late grandparents, aunt, uncles and my dad (Pete). It was so good to see her and some of my other family members that I rarely get a chance to see.

My plan is to spend the rest of today getting ready for my big day tomorrow, and I'm going to kick it on the couch with Big R and watch a movie or two!
