New Blog| Hughey, Party of Four

Helllloooo, friends!!!! This blog post is so long overdue! I wanted to come here to share some exciting news and explain why you haven't heard from me here! I created a NEW blog a few months ago. It's something I actually decided to do on a whim, but I hope you will join me at my new space! You can find me at www.hugheypartyoffour.com

You can expect to find very similar content on my new site, but I plan to make the new space more of a family AND lifestyle blog. {I had my baby boy in July by the way! I still can't believe I didn't update on here since my 32 week pregnancy update!}

Anyway, I hope to see you at hugheypartyoffour.com! Would love for you to follow me and my family on this journey we call life.

Until Next Time,
xoxo

Preparing for Easter Weekend - We're Heading to the D!

Popular Detroit Destinations via | image
I seriously can't believe April is here already!!! Maybe it's just me, but this year is flying by! I will be heading to Detroit for a long weekend with my boys for the Easter holiday. I'm excited we were able to make this trip happen since we won't be able to make it back to visit Big R's family for our annual Fourth of July trip, because we will be awaiting Baby R's arrival! ;)

What are your plans for the Easter weekend?

Double Dutch Bus | My Parents. My Childhood.

I am one of those strange people who is not really into music. When I say I'm not really into music...what I really mean is I don't listen to music on a consistent basis. I usually only listen to music as I'm driving in the car. I listen to whatever comes on the radio. I also listen to whatever music Big R plays too. Even though I'm not a big music person I do enjoy music. I especially love how music can take you back to a particular place or time. This past Friday while driving to pick up Little R, I was listening to our local old school, R&B radio station and Double Dutch Bus came on the radio. It immediately made me think of my parents. Although my time with my dad was cut short, I had a really great childhood. I have such fond memories of my parents together. My parents started dating when my mom was 17 and my dad was 20. My mom was 26 going on 27 when I was born, and my dad was 30. So prior to having me, my parents were able to really enjoy their time together as a couple.

Left to Right | Uncle. Mom.Dad

I've heard so many stories of my parents having the best house parties in town during there younger years. I remember a few of those parties, and I can remember my parents dancing to Double Dutch Bus. Life seemed to be so carefree in the early 90's. I'm sure my parents had their troubles, but their love for each other, my brother and I, and life in general was evident. I can only hope that Big R and I will continue to have a love for each other, our family, and life just like Kim and Pete (aka my parents).

My Mother

This lady! My mommy, best friend, my most favorite lady in the world! Yesterday I came home to Virginia to spend some time with her. My mom is a pharmacy technician so she has to work over the weekend a couple times per month. Yesterday, she worked an 8 hour shift, came straight home, cleaned up her kitchen, cooked a dinner for myself and a few other family members, cleaned the kitchen, cooked a meal for her husband, and then cleaned the kitchen again! After family left, she then put in a load of laundry. We finally went to bed after midnight. She AMAZES me! That is just one of MANY, MANY examples of the kind of super woman she is! When I grow up, I want to be just like my mom.

2014 Wrap Up {November Photo Diary}

{Typical Morning Routine} Coffee and breakfast (yogurt or eggs usually)

 {Disney!} A week-long team building retreat for work. Magical. Just magical.

Live safari animals right outside our resort. You know, zebras, giraffes and such. So cool!
{Thanksgiving} Our Thanksgiving was rather special this year. Big R, Little R, and I celebrated the holiday just the three of us. Big R and I cooked all the food. I got down in the kitchen if I must say so myself! We also started a new tradition of writing out what we were thankful for at dinner. Little R's list was my favorite.

2014 Wrap Up {October Photo Diary}

{Hair} I had to get several inches of my hair chopped off! : ( Between the Dominican blowout and the sew in that resulted in me accidentally chopping of pieces of my hair in a few different places, I didn't have a choice but to cut off the damage. I even though I had quite a bit cut off - I still have some heat damage especially in the front. After the initial cut I had early October, I went back and had my bang area chopped a little more. Le sigh...it's just hair...and will grow back. Only problem is my hair grows pretty slow. #fail.

After the cut, I started wearing this very natural looking half wig...frequently.
{Football} Lots of football in the month of October. My honey's team had a great season, and I attended my first NFL game with my colleagues. Our home team, the Carolina Panthers, lost but it was still a fun experience.

And there was this! Big R brought old, dried up grass into our house just about every day. But there was this one particular time where he had the grass all in our washer! Blehhhhh! Thanks dude!

{Wedding Dress} I bought my wedding dress from David's Bridal. Woohoo! Except I didn't wear it and will not wear it. It's hanging in a closet...new with tags! Need a size 8 dress anyone? Holla at me!

{Little R Turns 7} My how time flies! Big R and I threw him a last minute birthday party for his class. It was a hit!
