Preparing for Easter Weekend - We're Heading to the D!

I seriously can't believe April is here already!!! Maybe it's just me, but this year is flying by! I will be heading to Detroit for a long weekend with my boys for the Easter holiday. I'm excited we were able to make this trip happen since we won't be able to make it back to visit Big R's family for our annual Fourth of July trip, because we will be awaiting Baby R's arrival! ;)

Life as a Stepmom | "It's Our Weekend"

Yes, it is "our" weekend to have this munchkin of a 7 year old!

Anyone in a co-parenting/step-parenting role can relate to the phrase "It's our weekend" I'm sure! I have refrained from talking about our custody/visitation with Little R on the blog for many different reasons, but I've decided to I want to open up about our experience. If I have any readers in a similar situation you know that sometimes you just need to vent. I think it would also be nice to have someone else to talk to about all things step-parenting related! So get ready folks! This journey has been one heck of a ride. Through all the ups and downs, Big R and I enjoy every little second we have with Little R. He is really the light of our lives! We have not seen him for three weekends straight, so both Big R and I are counting down the minutes until 6pm pick up!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I'm sure we will!!!

2014 Wrap Up {December Photo Diary + SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT}

Can you say blog post overload? I wanted to get these posts up prior to the New Year, but obviously that didn't happen. Here we are, the first day of 2015! I am so very excited about this new year. I hope that each of you have a blessed new year! Let's wrap up 2014 with December!

{Baby Shower For My Niece} Eeekk!! She will be here any day now! I can't WAIT to hold her and spoil her!

{Special Birthday/Pre-WEDDING Dinner} Yes, you read correctly. Pre-WEDDING! On Wednesday, December 17th my husband (then fiance') surprised me with a nice dinner (he made reservations and everything) at Bravo Italian Restaurant in Greensboro, NC for not only my 27th birthday (December 21st), but also to celebrate our nuptials the following day! Dinner was delicious and a great way to start our special celebration.

{WEDDING!!!!!!! - December 18th, 2014} I think I briefly talked about our engagement in another post, but Big R technically proposed to me April 6, 2012. I got my ring last December 8th, 2013. After changing our wedding plans what felt like a million times trying to make sure both sides of our families could attend, trying to make sure we had our scheduled visitation with Little R during said wedding weekends, etc. we came to the mutual understanding that we both really just wanted to get married already! So we picked a date in December, December 18th to be exact, we hired a photographer, and we headed to the courthouse! I am officially a MRS., and I could not be HAPPIER! Here are a few photos from our shoot! I think the photographer, Tristan of Tristan Means Photography did a fabulous job and I highly recommend him!!!!

{Santa Came!} And to wrap up the year, Santa came! Little R actually has Christmas twice. First at his mom's in Virginia. Santa comes back for a second trip at our house. This year he came the night of December 27th. Little R was on the nice list this year!

2014 was good to me! Bring it on 2015!!!

2014 Wrap Up {October Photo Diary}

{Hair} I had to get several inches of my hair chopped off! : ( Between the Dominican blowout and the sew in that resulted in me accidentally chopping of pieces of my hair in a few different places, I didn't have a choice but to cut off the damage. I even though I had quite a bit cut off - I still have some heat damage especially in the front. After the initial cut I had early October, I went back and had my bang area chopped a little more. Le sigh...it's just hair...and will grow back. ~~Only problem is my hair grows pretty slow. #fail.~~

After the cut, I started wearing this very natural looking half wig...frequently.

{Football} Lots of football in the month of October. My honey's team had a great season, and I attended my first NFL game with my colleagues. Our home team, the Carolina Panthers, lost but it was still a fun experience.

And there was this! Big R brought old, dried up grass into our house just about every day. But there was this one particular time where he had the grass all in our washer! Blehhhhh! Thanks dude!

{Wedding Dress} I bought my wedding dress from David's Bridal. Woohoo! Except I didn't wear it and will not wear it. It's hanging in a closet...new with tags! Need a size 8 dress anyone? Holla at me!
